I have an advert we've produced at work on publisher and pdf-ed using Adobe and we need to find out it's DPI/PPI. I know there are rubbish progammes to use but we're a small company and don't have anyhing else.

Can anyone tell me how to find out?

This may not be an answer but have you tried Ghostscript.
I believe it can create/edit PDFs and you should be able to view the document properties with it
It can be downloaded from sourceforge.net
